See a 35mm print of John Carpenter’s THE THING with us at The Texas Theatre – get a poster for the new prequel!

Just in time to prepare for Universal Pictures’ new prequel THE THING, we want you to join us for a special 35mm print showing of John Carpenter’s THE THING at the historic Texas Theatre. If you’re like me, you may have first discovered the 1982 horror/sci-fi classic on the small screen, and only ever seen it that way. Time to change that. As a special treat, Bigfanboy.com in arrangement with Universal is going to give every single attendee a full-size double-sided theatrical poster for the 2011 prequel. What a cool gift! The show is this Thursday, October 6, staring at 9:15pm.  You can purchase tickets HERE.  No seats will be held, so get there early to insure a good spot.  Posters will be distributed one per person after the show.

If you’ve never been to The Texas Theatre, this is a great opportunity to check out a true Southern landmark.  See a report we made about the grand re-opening and renovation HERE.  Please join us Thursday night… if you dare!

The 1982 version of THE THING was a remake of THE THING FROM ANOTHER WORLD (1951). John Carpenter’s version starred Kurt Russell, T.K. Carter, Richard Dysart, Donald Moffat, Richard Masur, Keith David, Wilford Brimley, Charles Hallahan, Peter Maloney, David Clennon, and Joel Polis.
