It’s fun to see actors you like going from silly fare to serious respectable roles. Case in point, the new movie THE ARTIST, which got a lot of attention at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, features Jean Dujardin – an actor I fell in love with through his AUSTIN POWERS-ish parodies of the classic James Bond films in the OSS 117 movies. Dujardin is already considered pretty popular in France, but American audiences may finally get a proper taste when THE ARTIST makes it’s theatrical debut, courtesy of The Weinstein Company. We’ve got the trailer and poster for you to check out above and below. The interesting hook here is that the movie, which revolves around a silent film star, is itself (with the exception of the score) a silent movie. It’s also shot in black and white, and as you can see from the trailer evokes a very classic look and feel from the early days of cinema. Malcolm McDowell, John Goodman and James Cromwell also have supporting roles, which should be interesting. I really hope the does a good job of exposing the genius of Jean Dujardin to U.S. moviegoers. If you’ve never seen his OSS 117 films, see if you can remedy that. Take a look at the trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
