If you’re not familiar with the Frank Miller-scripted and David Mazzucchelli-illustrated BATMAN: YEAR ONE story arc, you’re missing one of the greatest collaborations in comics. The story ran through BATMAN #404 through 407, but has been collected in trade paperback form for those interested. The newest DC/Warner Brothers home video animated release is directly based on YEAR ONE, and looks phenomenal. The promotional still above sold me instantly. Sadly, still no Kevin Conroy returning as the Caped Crusader, but Ben McKenzie (SOUTHLAND) will play Batman, Bryan Cranston (BREAKING BAD) takes on Lt. James Gordon, Eliza Dushku (DOLLHOUSE) voices Selina Kyle and/or Catwoman, and Katee Sackhoff (BATTLESTAR GALACTICA) plays Detective Sarah Essen. Take a look at the impressive trailer below (from MTV) and see if you aren’t as impressed as we are.
