More video coming in from our fantastic time at Texas Frightmare Weekend, this time featuring SAW stars Cary Elwes, Shawnee Smith and Costas Mandylor. Interesting background on this – I had the pleasure of attending the very first test screening of the original SAW long before Lionsgate even started promoting it, and I knew then they had something special on their hands. But even I couldn’t have predicted it would become the successful franchise it’s turned into. I also hosted the first official Dallas screening of the first film at the 2004 Dallas Comic Con, several weeks before it opened. And as if that wasn’t enough, I’m happy to say Shawnee and I know each other well, as I had the honor of booking her very first live performance for Smith & Pyle (her music group with actress Missi Pyle), which like the first SAW screening coincided with a Dallas Comic Con. I love the SAW franchise, and it was great having the opportunity to meet Cary and Costas, while also catching up a bit with Shawnee. It’s amazing how the fandom surrounding these movies has thrived in the past seven years or so, and seeing their response at the convention, it’s safe to say the fans haven’t lost an ounce of enthusiasm. Check out the clip below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
