UPDATED: new poster! TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON theatrical trailer debut – that’s a LOT of effects!

This is definitely the week for trailers. Today we’ve got the full theatrical trailer for director Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON. Bay promises this one will be better than the overblown and ultimately disappointing sequel TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN… and hey, it’s got Leonard Nimoy voicing a major new character, so that’s automatically gaining cool points. Shia LeBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky, with Victoria’s Secret model Rose Huntington-Whiteley taking on the female lead. The film co-stars Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Frances McDormand (yes, really), and Glenn Morshower.

The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime “Transformers” character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

And as a back-up…
