New International poster and trailer for X-MEN FIRST CLASS

I actually wasn’t going to post the International poster for X-MEN FIRST CLASS, because like many I’ve pretty let down by the sloppy Photoshop job used to put it together. It’s interesting too, since I LOVED the first poster with the school logo – it exuded a slick classy look, and I was really hoping the rest of the marketing would follow that pattern. The sad fact is the days of fully illustrated posters for film, courtesy of artists like Drew Struzan, are gone and forgotten by studio suits who want it fast and cheap. But Marvel movies like this and THOR and CAPTAIN AMERICA really deserve artsy posters, something people would be begging to hang on their wall… not this. So yeah, I actually didn’t want to post the image above, however, there’s a relatively new trailer out for International audiences as well, and it does have a few new shots peppered throughout, so I’ll go ahead and give everyone their X-MEN FIRST CLASS update for this week. As the lovely Katey Rich at Cinemablend pointed out when posting this same trailer, much of the ad campaign seems cobbled together hastily. Let’s hope the film doesn’t put forth the same type of presentation.  I love Matthew Vaughn, and think he can salvage this movie, but there’s just a messy aspect to the marketing so far.  Let’s hope this is only a result of Fox’s marketing department and not indicative of the final product.  Maybe the studio could consider taking advice from comic fans, or even movie bloggers, before throwing together stuff like this.  I don’t know.  Just check it out for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS opens June 3, 2011
