It’s here… finally. The X-MEN: FIRST CLASS trailer does not disappoint if ya ask us. This may be the first time a prequel film has come along that really works… then again it is just a trailer. I have immense faith in the director, Matthew Vaughn, and I have to believe after the rather messy X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (2005), I imagine the powers that be at 20th Century Fox have learned from their mistakes. Plus, Bryan Singer made two strong films before that, and he’s behind this one as a producer, so that’s promising in and of itself. The film stars Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Lucas Till as Havoc, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and James McAvoy as Charles Xavier. Also starring but not pictured are Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw, Oliver Platt as “Man in black”, and Ray Wise as Secretary of State of the United States.
X-MEN FIRST CLASS charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS opens June 3, 2011

Ok I am certainly confused by the timelines here. Emma frost came out of the relationship with her and the hellfire club. To say that she was around with magneto in the 60’s is absurd… The commercial shows later footage in the beginning with xaviers chair and scenes from other films so if that is the case she was in a Wolverine – origins as a kid in a scene. Her character was created by Chris Clarement and John Byrne back in 1980. I was in highschool then. Still have the first issue she was in as a part of my collection. I don’t understand movie reboots, they don’t make sense to me. It would have made more sense to me to have the original characters from the original comic and not the clash of history here.
The continuity is already screwed up, thanks to the previous three films. They’re doing the best the can, and I think it looks pretty good. Sure, basing it on the comic book timeline, it makes no sense, but few comic book movies ever truly follow the source material that closely anyway.
