There’s a new U.S. trailer for the Greg Mottola (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS) directed PAUL, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with Seth Rogen as the voice of their alien buddy.  There’s all sorts of geek-appeal with this film, as part of it actually takes place during San Diego Comic-Con, and you can clearly see superhero logo t-shirts on our two heroes, and comic books being read.  I love the inclusion of Robert Kirkman’s comic BRIT, for a variety of reasons.  The cast also includes Kristen Wiig, Jason Bateman, Sigourney Weaver, Jane Lynch, Bill Hader, Blythe Danner, and Jeffrey Tambor. We’ve previously posted a U.K. trailer, which is quite similar to this current U.S. one.  But there’s a few new moments in here, and I get the feeling this is going to be a fun ride.  I really love the little references to other “alien” movies.  Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Studio synopsis: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America’s UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen) has been hanging out at a top-secret military base. For reasons unknown, the space-travelling smart ass decides to escape the compound and hop on the first vehicle out of town—a rented RV containing Earthlings Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Collings (Frost). Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. And as two nerds struggle to help, one little green man might just take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

PAUL opens March 18, 2011
