67th Annual Golden Globe Awards – nominees announced!

My buddy Tom Jane got a nomination for HUNG!  Well that’s only one of many fine nominations for the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, the 67th by the way.  I’m glad to see the UP IN THE AIR got so much love, and honestly not too surprised by some of the other films and people in the other popular categories.  I will say the Golden Globes is one of my favorite award shows, mainly because it always looks like the people there are having fun.  So who are your picks?  Let us know!  Meanwhile here are the categories and nominees… with a little note from me on a few here and there.

Paramount Pictures’ UP IN THE AIR received the most Golden Globe nominations of any film this year, with a total of six nominees including Best Motion Picture-Drama, Best Director for Jason Reitman, Best Screenplay for Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner, Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama for George Clooney, and two Best Performances by Actresses in a Supporting Role for both Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick.

The film has also received numerous other film critic organization accolades such as four National Board of Review wins for Best Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor (George Clooney) and Best Supporting Actress (Anna Kendrick), as well as eight Broadcast Film Critics nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (Jason Reitman), Best Adapted Screenplay (Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner), Best Actor (George Clooney), Best Supporting Actress (Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick), Best Acting Ensemble, and Best Editing (Dana E. Glauberman, A.C.E.). George Clooney received additional recognition from the New York Film Critics Circle for Best Actor in the film and Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner were awarded Best Adapted Screenplay by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

UP IN THE AIR is currently in limited release and is rated R (www.theupintheairmovie.com).
Paramount Pictures’ received an additional nomination for Stanley Tucci for Best Supporting Actor in THE LOVELY BONES which is rated PG-13 and is currently in limited release (www.lovelybones.com).
