New movie poster roundup: GREEN HORNET, JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER, UNKNOWN, APOLLO 18

Got a few new movie posters for you to check out this week, courtesy of our friends at IMP Awards.  With Thanksgiving upon us, movie news is a little sparse, so we’re doing what we can to give you something cool to look at.  Hopefully one of these will be of interest.  First up, we have the Taiwan version of THE GREEN HORNET poster… which is considerably cooler than the American versions (so far), though really downplays Seth Rogen.  This one makes Kato (Jay Chou) the central focus of the piece, with Cameron Diaz and Christoph Waltz prominently featured as well.  After seeing this one, I began wondering how this movie will play with foreign audiences, particularly those in Asian countries.  Remember, Bruce Lee was huge in his day, especially in Asian cultures, and the television version of THE GREEN HORNET has been enduringly popular with those countries.  So knowing that, will the Kato element of this film be enough to make this a big movie in overseas markets?  So far the American public isn’t looking upon this one too favorably, and the January release date isn’t the best sign of faith from the studio.  Then again, this could be a surprise smash hit, and take everyone by surprise.  Are you looking forward to THE GREEN HORNET?  Did I mention it’s directed by Michel Gondry (BE KIND REWIND, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND)?  You can see the latest trailer HERE.

Next up, because we all demanded it, the Justin Bieber autobiographical documentary biopic JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER gets a poster.  Look, I have nothing against this kid, but his fame is only about a year old, and shouldn’t his career get a tad more established before producing a autobiographical film?  Does anyone remember the box office disaster FROM JUSTIN TO KELLY?  There is such a thing as glorifying fame a little too soon.  But despite my feelings on the subject, Bieber Fever doesn’t appear to have a cure for the moment, so chances are this film will do just fine.  Check out the poster below.  Miley Cyrus supposedly has a cameo.  The film is said to follow Bieber with some footage of performances from his 2010 concert tour… hold me a seat!

Up next we have a rather heavily Photoshopped one-sheet for the new Liam Neeson thriller UNKNOWN.  Did they just take a rejected design for TAKEN and slap their logo on it?  Looks like it.  In UNKNOWN, a man awakens from a coma, only to discover that someone has taken on his identity and that no one, (not even his wife), believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is.  Poster below.

And last but not least, the Timur Bekmambetov produced “found footage” film APOLLO 18 is said to follow the real mission to space in the 1970’s that was canceled by NASA.  Now judging by the poster, this is going to be loosely based on fact, and heavily filled with fiction.  But the idea of a found footage film revolving around NASA definitely intrigues me… if it’s done right.  This is also a good example of how a simple but inspired image can really make a great poster.
