New clip from James Cameron’s ‘AVATAR’ for you to watch

Okay, so I’ve been told NOT to post my review of James’s Cameron’s AVATAR yet, even though the number of sites claiming to get special permission from Fox to break the embargo seems to be growing faster than Jimmy C’s typical film budget.  Hopefully you’ll all enjoy my review when it finally does get posted, especially since I’ll have a LOT of time to think about it.  In the meantime, check out this cool clip from the movie, which spotlights some of the great special effects you’ll have to look forward to.  This is only spoiler-ish in the sense that it shows a moment about halfway through the movie, however it’s not anything that’s going to ruin the movie for you.  In fact this was one of the sequences shown to select press in 3-D several months ago to build hype for the film.

Just to give this a little explanation, the following clip comes from a moment where Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) while inhabiting his Avatar body attempts to link with a dragon-like banshee, along with advice from Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), which would effectively make the animal his high-flying personal ride.  On this world, the Na’vi aliens use the tentacle-like tip of their ponytails to link with creatures and vegetation, allowing them to communicate telepathically, and in some cases control their subjects.

AVATAR opens on December 18th – I highly suggest you see it in 3-D
