LET ME IN director Matt Reeves exclusive audio interview

I really enjoyed Matt Reeves’ remake of the popular Swedish vampire film LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.  The American take which was released last weekend from Overture Films does a respectful job of paying sincere homage to the original, while still putting a definitive style on it.  LET ME IN may just be (in my opinion at least) one of the very best remakes ever done from a foreign horror movie, which is especially impressive considering how amazing the source movie was on its own.  Reeves is perhaps best known for directing CLOVERFIELD, on which he worked with J.J. Abrams, but the talented director has also written several film and television projects.  We got a chance to talk today about his work on LET ME IN, the rumors surrounding a CLOVERFIELD sequel, his proposed new project, and even his first full screenplay in Hollywood… Steven Seagal’s UNDER SIEGE 2: DARK TERRITORY, one of my favorite guilty pleasure action movies.  It’s almost a half-hour of entertaining audio, and definitely worth a listen.  Click here to open a media player and listen, or right click this link and save it as an MP3.

Some of the noteworthy items in this interview:

Matt explains the extensive process of casting the two young leads, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Matt talks about the controversial deleted scene a little more in depth, including the reaction of Chloe’s mother on set.

Matt discusses the genius of Richard Jenkins, how they met, and specifics that Jenkins brought to his character in the film.

Matt debunks the CLOVERFIELD sequel rumors, saying as of right now nothing is happening with that.

Matt talks about how his first script in Hollywood became UNDER SIEGE 2… though it was never meant to be UNDER SIEGE 2.
