Well, after all the seething hate THE LAST AIRBENDER has received, it’s somewhat surprising we’re seeing M. Night Shyamalan’s name so prominently again so soon.  I think I was more forgiving than most with AIRBENDER, but that’s really beside the point.  There’s a new horror film coming out from Universal Pictures this September called DEVIL, which is the first in a proposed series of films from “The Night Chronicles”, from a story by M. Night Shyamalan, and screenplay by Brian Nelson.  The story follows a small group of people who get trapped in an elevator, with the suspicion that one of them is The Devil.  Huh?  I’ve read on other sites that the security guard (played by Bokeem Woodbine) is trying to convince the policeman watching them on the monitors to get them out of the elevator, and that he is the “chosen one” to save the group.  The cast includes Woodbine, along with Bojana Novakovic, Chris Messina, Geoffrey Arend, and Caroline Dhavernas.  It’s executive produced by Drew Dowdle and directed by John Erick Dowdle – the guys behind QUARANTINE.  I’ll say this, the trailer looks creepy, but will it work as a feature-length film?  Take a look and tell us your thoughts.

DEVIL opens September 17, 2010
