Star Wars Celebration is happening right now in London, which means Lucasfilm is premiering all sorts of trailers and news about upcoming STAR WARS movies and shows (and other company projects). One of the biggest to get the spotlight is INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY, which brings Harrison Ford back to the roles of Dr. Henry Jones Jr. one more time, joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen. After watching the first official trailer, I’m wasn’t sure what to think. I like seeing Harrison as Indy again, but it almost looks overly polished, like I’m watching a video game. There’s also evident in the trailer some pretty heavy CGI, including de-aging of Ford for flashback scenes. It doesn’t look bad, but I think it takes away from some of the classic cinematic charm of the originals. Thankfully the new trailer plays a little better, even incorporating music by The Rolling Stones. This is directed by James Mangold, who helmed LOGAN and FORD v FERRARI, and I have a LOT of faith in him, so hopefully he’ll find some magic here. Take a look at the new trailer for yourself (and the snazzy new poster by Tony Stella above) and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
