I’m probably among the world’s biggest Indiana Jones fans, as many of my friends well know. I own two custom made jackets hand made for me by the same woman who tailored Harrison Ford’s on screen jackets for the original trilogy. I have every movie poster produced for the franchise, every video game, action figures, you name it… and yes, a fedora. But like many, I wasn’t terribly thrilled with INDIANA JONES AND KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL (my God that’s a long title), and it left me wondering if maybe they should have left a good thing alone. Well, for better or worse, we’re not getting INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY, which bring Harrison Ford back to the roles of Dr. Henry Jones Jr. one more time, joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richters, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen. Watching the first official trailer, I’m not sure what to think. I like seeing Harrison as Indy again, but this almost looks overly polished, like I’m watching a video game. There’s also evident in the trailer some pretty heavy CGI, including de-aging of Ford for flashback scenes. It doesn’t look bad, but I think it takes away from some of the classic cinematic charm of the originals. This is directed by James Mangold, who helmed LOGAN and FORD v FERRARI, and I have a LOT of faith in him, so hopefully he’ll find some magic here. Take a look for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
Harrison Ford returns as the legendary hero archaeologist in the highly anticipated fifth installment of the iconic “Indiana Jones” franchise, which is directed by James Mangold (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Logan”). Starring along with Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), John Rhys-Davies (“Raiders of the Lost Ark”), Shaunette Renee Wilson (“Black Panther”), Thomas Kretschmann (“Das Boot”), Toby Jones (“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”), Boyd Holbrook (“Logan”), Oliver Richters (“Black Widow”), Ethann Isidore (“Mortel”) and Mads Mikkelsen (“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”). Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers.
