SAMARITAN trailer – Sylvester Stallone is a former superhero forced out of retirement

You have to admit, it’s pretty impressive that Sylvester Stallone has been making action movies now in six consecutive decades, beginning in the mid-1970s. His latest is SAMARITAN, which finally sees him in the role of a superhero… though I guess he’s technically played one in JUDGE DREDD, though Dredd didn’t really have any superpowers. This new film features Stallone as a garbage man who is actually a former superhero called “Samaritan” living in secret in a rough neighborhood. When a young man discovers his true identity, the dangerous crime nearby pushes this now much older vigilante back into the hero business. SAMARITAN is directed by Julius Avery (OVERLORD), written by Bragi F. Schut (ESCAPE ROOM), and co-stars Javon “Wanna” Walton (THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY), Pilou Asbæk (GAME OF THRONES), Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias. Check out the first trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty years ago, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.

SAMARITAN hits Prime Video on August 26, 2022
