Check out these BTC exclusive Mico Suayan comic covers for SUPERMAN ’78 and BATMAN ’89

One of the more exciting comic book projects to hit this year is the DC Comics release of BATMAN ’89 and SUPERMAN ’78, comic books that pick up where the popular movies left off. There are a variety of covers for each book, but we’re particularly excited about the Big Time Collectibles (aka BTC) exclusive Mico Suayan covers that are now up for sale, available as a set called the “World’s Finest” combo. These covers by Suayan pay homage to the Jim Lee covers for BATMAN #608 and SUPERMAN #204, only here featuring the movie versions of the DC superheroes played wonderfully by Christopher Reeve and Michael Keaton. These are currently available to purchase from BTC’s official website here as a set, or individually here for just BATMAN ’89 and here for just SUPERMAN ’78.

About BATMAN ’89 – Step back into the Gotham of Tim Burton’s seminal classic Batman movies on August 10! Batman ’89 by screenwriter Sam Hamm (Batman, Batman Returns) and artist Joe Quinones (Dial H for Hero) will pull on a number of threads left dangling by the prolific director in an incredible new comic book miniseries! When the new six-issue comic book run launches next month, Gotham City is being torn in two as citizens dressed as Batman and The Joker duke it out in the streets! As D.A. Harvey Dent tries to keep the city together, he targets the one problem tearing it apart: BATMAN! And he’ll get Bruce Wayne’s help in taking down the Dark Knight!

About SUPERMAN ’78 – Beginning this fall, decades after Richard Donner and Christopher Reeve’s Superman: The Movie introduced generations of fans to a silver screen version of DC’s Man of Steel, DC returns to this beloved property to tell new stories set within this world with the publication of Superman ’78 by writer Rob Venditti (Hawkman) and artist Wilfredo Torres (Batman ’66)!

“There’s no fictional character that I love more than SUPERMAN,” says Torres, “and of all the many interpretations of the big guy in Comics, Animation, TV and Film, the Christopher Reeve/Richard Donner version is the one I love the most. Working on this project is very literally a childhood dream come true.”

“My earliest memory interacting with the DC universe is seeing Christopher Reeve fly across the screen,” says Venditti. “While others might say that the John Byrne era is their Superman, or the Dan Jurgens era is their Superman, Reeve is mine. Superman is and has always been my favorite superhero, but Superman ’78 is a project I never dreamed of working on because it didn’t seem possible it could ever exist. This is the gig of a lifetime.”

Being a massive fan of both films these comic series are based on, and the classic Jim Lee covers for SUPERMAN and BATMAN comics, I was particularly excited to see these variants done by the very talented Mico Suayan, which serve as a perfect tribute to both the films and the memorable DC Comics covers for each character.  Both of these incredible covers are available to purchase at Big Time Collectibles, available here as a set, or individually here for just BATMAN ’89 and here for just SUPERMAN ’78.
