A QUIET PLACE Part II video movie review – John Krasinski writes and directs a horror sequel

This horror thriller A QUIET PLACE became a surprise hit in 2018, an inspired tale about ravenous killer creatures lured by even the slightest sound. It revolved around a family trying to stay alive against incredible odds, and ended with one of them making the ultimate sacrifice. A QUIET PLACE Part II picks up exactly where the first movie left off, with the mother caring for her newborn baby, and doing everything she can to protect her older children as they search for a safe location. They also have an edge now, as the daughter (who is deaf) discovers using her cochlear implant along with a radio speaker draws out a weakness in the attacking creatures. Where the first film spotlighted the parents as determined protectors, the second film works to put the children front and center. I had a chance to see the film in advance, and have posted my video review, which you can watch below. This is a really satisfying sequel that both expands on the original and works as a great companion piece to it. Incredibly tense and smartly constructed, it really shows John Krasinski’s strengths as a director. Great action, great performances, an exceptional follow-up to a terrific film.
