LAST NIGHT IN SOHO trailer – Edgar Wright’s latest film looks like a crazy time-traveling trip

LAST NIGHT IN SOHO is easily one of my most-anticipated films of the year. I love Edgar Wright, and trust him to always make something interesting and fun. Wright co-wrote this new film with the wonderful Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917), and the amazing cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy (QUEEN’S GAMBIT), Thomasin McKenzie (terrific in JOJO RABBIT), Matt Smith, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, the late great Diana Rigg, Terence Stamp, James and Oliver Phelps (the HARRY POTTER twins), and Rita Tushingham. And I love that the trailer intentionally doesn’t quite explain what is going on here. McKenzie plays a girl named Eloise in the present day, who seems to be traveling back in time (check out that THUNDERBALL premiere!), and when she looks in the mirror in the past, she appears to be embodying another woman named Sandy (Anya Taylor-Joy). This looks crazy and weird, and I love it. Wright knows how to handle comedy, but proved himself a competent director of thrillers with BABY DRIVER. This looks like a nod to some classic British supernatural thrillers, but with a modern day flare. And as a fan of London in general, I love how Wright makes London a character here. The THUNDERBALL premiere would indicate the “old” London stuff takes place in 1965, but that might not be the only past time period depicted in the film. Check out the first trailer below, and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

A young girl, who is passionate about fashion design, mysteriously enters the 1960s, where she encounters her idol, a dazzling wannabe singer. But 1960s London is not what it seems, and time seems to fall apart with shady consequences.
