First official photo of Jason Momoa in Marcus Nispel’s CONAN remake

There’s already been a few leaked behind-the-scenes pics hitting the web from director Marcus Nispel’s upcoming CONAN remake, but now Nu Boyana Film Studios (the Bulgarian production company behind the film) has released an official photo of actor Jason Momoa as the legendary Robert E. Howard hero, along with a note that they “just completed production” on the film.  The casting of Momoa raised quite a bit of criticism from fans, though from the looks of this photo, he might just pull it off.  He certainly (at least in this image) captures the look of the character, at least looking better than I ever imagined he would.  It must be tremendously stressful to have your first big screen leading role be that of Conan, so I’m willing to give Momoa a chance on this.  Not to mention, the supporting cast is pretty solid.  Ron Perlman (HELLBOY I and II) plays Conan’s poppa, Stephen Lang (AVATAR) plays the villain Khalar Singh, and Rose McGowan plays a half-human half-witch… yummy.  The question is after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s memorable turns with the character, will audiences willingly accept a new face in the role?  Can Momoa pull it off?  Can Nispel (who previously directed the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and FRIDAY THE 13th remakes) show us something on par with what John Milius gave us in CONAN THE BARBARIAN?  Time will tell.  Tell us your thoughts or expectations in the comments below.
