IP MAN: KUNG FU MASTER trailer – check out the newest take on the classic Grandmaster

We’ve already seen some films telling the story of Wing Chun also known as “Ip Man”, including four featuring Donnie Yen, and one using the title but not actually featuring Yen. The new Magnet Releasing film IP MAN: KUNG FU MASTER actually comes from a different development team entirely, but still based on the man who once tutored the legendary Bruce Lee. This outing centers around his time amidst 1949’s Communist Revolution, so technically this is a prequel to what most are familiar with. The cast features Dennis To, Yuan Li Ruoxin, Tong Xiaohu, Yue Dongfeng, Chang Qinyuan, Zhao Xioguang, Ren Yu, and Michael Wong. This film is directed by Liming Li and written by Li and Shi Qingshui. IP MAN: KUNG FU MASTER harks back to Ip’s early days before the Communist Revolution in 1949. Ip, portrayed by Dennis To for the third time as the martial artist who famously tutored Bruce Lee, was then a police captain who was framed for the murder of a ruthless but honorable mobster, and targeted for vengeance by his dangerous daughter. Forced to quit the force, Ip soon also has to contend with the arrival of the Japanese army in Guangzhou.

IP MAN: KUNG FU MASTER hits theaters and On Demand on December 11, 2020 from Magnet Releasing
