THE SMURFS teaser trailer is here – are you ready to get SMURF’D?!

Well, whether we want it or not, we’re getting a SMURFS movie.  I’m actually somewhat interested to see what they do with this.  It’s live action, inter-mixed with CGI Smurfs.  Hank Azaria (who is almost always GREAT) is playing a live-action Gargamel, chasing The Smurfs through New York city.  That’s gotta be worth a look, right?  Plus listen to this cast: Neil Patrick Harris and Sofia Vergara (my future wife) are also in it, Katy Perry is Smurfette, Alan Cumming is Gutsy Smurf, B.J. Novak (THE OFFICE) is Baker Smurf, Paul Reubens (yes, Pee-Wee Herman himself) is Jokey Smurf, George Lopez (who apparently is the go-to voice for any CGI-animated project these days) is Grouchy Smurf, Jonathan Winters (brilliant casting) is Papa Smurf, Fred Armisen is Brainy Smurf, Kenan Thompson is Greedy Smurf, John Oliver (THE DAILY SHOW) is Vanity Smurf, and Jeff Foxworthy is Handy Smurf.  Those are just the ones that stuck out when I read the cast list.  This could be a two-hour train wreck, but it’s definitely going to be worth a look.  Oh, and get this, it’s the first film in what the studio wants to be a trilogy.  That’s right.  Check out the teaser below and tell us your thoughts.

THE SMURFS opens August 3, 2011
