Watch a VFX reel from STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER to see how Special Effects were done

If you saw STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, and were curious how they achieved some of those incredible special effects, a new video compilation from Industrial Light & Magic will pull back the curtain a bit for ya. Check out the video below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

One of the biggest feats in EPISODE VII was the integration of Carrie Fisher, using deleted scenes from the previous films and doing some pretty hefty digital work. But it was much more than just cutting around her and dropping into the scenes… they actually had to create an entirely digital body to match the moment, the lighting, etc. – and many (myself included) felt the end result was pretty flawless. But what’s most impressive in the video below is the stuff you probably didn’t realize was done, like digital backgrounds, overlaying tech on live action performances, in some cases completely digital characters and vehicles… it’s all pretty impressive. I could watch hours of this.
