Most people became familiar with Taika Waititi after he delivered the highly entertaining THOR: RAGNAROK, but his previous film HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE proved the man has a definite vision and style that begs to be seen. His newest effort is JOJO RABBIT, a quirky imaginary friend tale set in Germany during World War II, and Waititi stars in the film as well… as Adolf Hitler, or rather a goofy version of him. The main star in Roman Griffin, who plays the young German boy with the wild imagination. This is actually based on a novel titled “Caging Skies” written by Christine Leunens. The movie co-stars Thomasin McKenzie, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson, Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, and Alfie Allen. It’s set to play at the year’s Fantastic Fest, so we should have a review up soon. In the meantime check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
Writer director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as JoJo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.
