BLINDED BY THE LIGHT interview with writer/director Gurinder Chadha & actor Aaron Phagura

The new movie BLINDED BY THE LIGHT is easily one of the best films of 2019, which makes sense considering it comes from BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM writer/director Gurinder Chadha. Based on a true story, it follows a young man in the UK in the late 1980s who becomes enamored with the music of Bruce Springsteen, and allows that inspiration to give him the courage he needs to change his life. Even if you’re not a fan of “The Boss” and his music, you’ll still likely be charmed by the film and the performances it contains. All of us can recall moments in life where songs spoke to us, sometimes helping to influence big life decisions, particularly in our high school years. Being a child of the 80s and the MTV generation, this movie spoke to me in a big way. I recently had a chance to sit down with Gurinder Chadha and actor Aaron Phagura (who plays the lead character’s friend who gifts Bruce’s music to him), and we talked a bit about their work on the film… I even got them to tell me their personal favorite Springsteen songs. Check out the interview below, but more importantly make sure to watch the movie this weekend, and tell your friends. This is a cinematic treat that deserves to be experienced by everyone.
