Behold, Chris Hemsworth as THOR… concept art leaked?

Okay, first we see multiple images of Chris Evans’ costume for THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA, and now we’ve got two uniformly rendered pieces of concept art depicting Chris Hemsworth from Kenneth Branagh’s THOR movie. Collider posted these, saying they were submitted by a reader named “Dan”, and with the Cap images debuting just hours before, many are becoming suspect on the validity of this stuff.

You can click on either image to make them really big, and judge the details a little better.  I’m a little on the fence with these.

Granted, it looks pretty polished and legit, but Marvel doesn’t seem to be commenting one way or another on these. That said, these THOR images look pretty close to the officially posted shot of Hemsworth we showed you back in April.  This is however the first time we’ve seen (potentially) what Thor will look like wielding his legendary hammer, Mjolner, which appears to be glowing.  Interesting.

THOR co-stars Natalie Portman as the love-interest Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Thor’s father Odin, Tom Hiddleston as Loki(the villain), plus Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, and Joshua Dallas as the Warriors Three.  Idris Elba also appears as Heimdall, Stellan Skarsgard as Selvig, and Jaimie Alexander as Sif.  I’ve long said that Thor is one of the Marvel characters I think would be the hardest to translate on the big screen.  Hopefully Branagh can pull it off.  What do you think of these images?  Is this how you pictured Thor to look?

I was talking to my buddy and Marvel Comics’ artist Mark Brooks about these shots, and we both agreed these don’t look very Asgard-ish, but maybe we’re seeing THE AVENGERS side of Thor.  Share your thoughts in the comments below.
