Disturbing BRIGHTBURN red band clip – what if Superman was born an evil little boy?

What would happen if Superman crash landed on Earth, was raised by a farm couple, and when he realized his powers decided to turn evil? That’s basically the plot of BRIGHTBURN, produced by James Gunn (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) as perhaps a commentary on how mundane most superhero movies have become. In fact, watching the trailer looks like the standard origin for young Clark Kent, until things start to turn ugly. The film stars Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner. This is directed by frequent James Gunn collaborator and friend David Yarovesky (THE HIVE), and written by Brian Gunn (brother of James) and Mark Gunn (cousin of James). Check out the first red band clip below (if you can stomach it, especially if you’re sensitive about eyes) and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?

With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
