The original film adaptation of Stephen King’s PET SEMATARY is still pretty creepy, though probably dated for most at this point. In this day and age of reboots and remakes, this story is the latest to get an update. From the co-director team of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (STARRY EYES), this new version stars Jason Clarke, John Lithgow, Amy Seimetz, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, Obssa Ahmed, and Lucas Lavoie. The trailers have done a good job of teasing the horror without showing too much, and the sound design definitely evokes a creepy vibe… plus I love me some John Lithgow, so I’d buy a ticket for him alone, even though I know things probably won’t end well for anyone here. Take a look at the new final trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments, and look for the movie in theaters this weekend.

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

PET SEMATARY opens April 5, 2019
