The TRANSFORMERS movies seem to have worn themselves out on audiences, so much so that Paramount has put further sequels on hold until they can figure out what the next most appropriate move to make is. But until then we’ve got a spinoff / origin tale headed our way with one of the most popular Autobots of all time. BUMBLEBEE is directed by Travis Knight (KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS); produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Tom DeSanto, Don Murphy, and Michael Bay; and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Brian Goldner, Mark Vahradian, and Chris Brigham. The cast features Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., John Oritz, Jason Drucker, Pamela Adlon, and Stephen Shneider. And as we see in the new trailer below, there’s also several familiar Transformers featured, including Optimus Prime voiced by Peter Cullen. Check out the new (we’re guessing “final”) trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

BUMBLEBEE opens December 21, 2018
