The 1964 MARY POPPINS movie starring Julie Andrews became an instant classic for Disney, and if home video sales are any indicator, it’s still a family favorite even to this day. Now, 54 years later, we’re finally getting a sequel. MARY POPPINS RETURNS hits theaters this Christmas, and a new trailer has hit the web (along with a snazzy new poster). Emily Blunt stars as Mary Poppins, Meryl Streep as Mary’s cousin Topsy, Colin Firth as William Weatherall Wilkins, Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr., Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, Angela Lansbury, Julie Walters, David Warner, and Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack. It’s directed by Rob Marshall (INTO THE WOODS) from a screenplay by David Magee (LIFE OF PI), and features music by Marc Shaiman. “Mary Poppins Returns” stars: Emily Blunt as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure; Lin-Manuel Miranda as her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London; Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks; Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks; and Julie Walters as the Banks’ housekeeper Ellen; with Colin Firth as Fidelity Fiduciary Bank’s William Weatherall Wilkins; and Meryl Streep as Mary’s eccentric cousin, Topsy. The film also introduces three new Banks’ children played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh and newcomer Joel Dawson. Angela Lansbury appears as the Balloon Lady, a treasured character from the PL Travers books and Dick Van Dyke is Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank now run by Firth’s character.

Clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Topps Trading Cards, The Dallas Mavericks and The Dallas Stars. From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
