J.J. Abrams sure knows how to deliver interesting genre entertainment. His production company Bad Robot has been behind some of the most talked-about TV shows and movies from the past 15 years, though some of the efforts have been hit and miss. His latest is OVERLORD, which recently had its Texas premiere at Fantastic Fest to some rather enthusiastic crowds. Directed by Julius Avery (SON OF A GUN), the film stars Jovan Adepo, John Magaro, Wyatt Russell, Pilou Asbæk, Bokeem Woodbine, Mathilde Ollivier, Jacob Anderson and Iain DeCaestecker. It’s a hard movie to talk about without giving away some major plot points, but check out the trailer below to get a taste of what to expect, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
With only hours until D-Day, a team of American paratroopers (Jovan Adepo, John Magaro, Wyatt Russell, Iain DeCaestecker) drop into Nazi-occupied France to carry out a mission that’s crucial to the invasion’s success. Tasked with destroying a radio transmitter atop a fortified church, the desperate soldiers join forces with a young French villager to penetrate the walls and take down the tower. But, in a mysterious Nazi lab beneath the church, the outnumbered G.I.s come face-to-face with enemies unlike any the world has ever seen. From producer J.J. Abrams, Overlord is a thrilling, pulse-pounding action adventure with a twist.
