ROCKETMAN teaser trailer – Taron Egerton is Sir Elton John in this biopic of his early years

In the sequel KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE, one of the most unusual aspects was the inclusion of Sir Elton John, playing himself and even participating in an action scene or two. The star of the KINGSMAN movies is of course Taron Egerton, who also provided one of the lead voices in the animated movie SING!, in which he does his own rendition of… wait for it… Elton John! So it should come as no surprise (we guess) that Egerton was tapped to portray Elton in the new biopic ROCKETMAN. Paramount Pictures just dropped the first teaser trailer to give you an idea of what to expect from the film. Check it out below. I can’t help but think of the Queen biopic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY when watching this, as they look more than a little similar, though the real reason for that may be director Dexter Fletcher, who technically helmed both films – Bryan Singer was director for BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, but was replaced by Fletcher who finished the film, though Singer is still getting sole credit on that. One can only wonder if we’re going to start seeing a bunch of music biopics now, which might not be a bad thing… as long as the stories are interesting.

#Rocketman is an epic musical fantasy about the uncensored human story of Sir Elton John’s breakthrough years, starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Bell, Richard Madden and Bryce Dallas Howard.

ROCKETMAN is launching into theaters Summer 2019
