There’s something about the spy movie genre that just seems perfect for parody. We’ve endured decades of James Bond films and imitators, so the idea of these types of flicks is an easy target. AUSTIN POWERS did it well, and more recently SPY and THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD showed these sorts of parodies can still make money. The latest to give it a shot is THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME, which features Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon as friends who find themselves in danger when one of their ex-boyfriends turns out to be a spy. Susanna Fogel directs, and the cast also includes Justin Theroux, Sam Heughan, Hasan Minhaj, and Gillian Anderson. Could be fun, but not sure the trailer is selling it just right. The Spy Who Dumped Me tells the story of Audrey (Kunis) and Morgan (McKinnon), two best friends who unwittingly become entangled in an international conspiracy when one of the women discovers the boyfriend who dumped her was actually a spy.

He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
