SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO new trailer – Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin are back to get dirty

The 2015 Mexican drug cartel thriller SICARIO became a critical hit and has developed quite a cult following in a short period of time. It’s not the type of film you’d necessarily expect to see a sequel for, but we’re getting one anyway, and it looks pretty intense. Previously titled SICARIO 2: SOLDADO, the now-titled SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO is written by Taylor Sheridan, who also wrote the first one, and is helmed by Italian director Stefano Sollima. Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin are back of course, with a supporting cast that includes Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Catherine Keener. Emily Blunt is not returning, but if you saw the first movie, you might remember the whole point of the story was her character wanted out of that line of work… so bringing her back wouldn’t make much sense. Check out the newest trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In SICARIO: Day of the Soldado, the series begins a new chapter. In the drug war, there are no rules – and as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) calls on the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro), whose family was murdered by a cartel kingpin, to escalate the war in nefarious ways. Alejandro kidnaps the kingpin’s daughter to inflame the conflict – but when the girl is seen as collateral damage, her fate will come between the two men as they question everything they are fighting for.
