90th Annual Academy Awards – full winners list for 2018 Oscars vs. our predictions to win

The 2018 Academy Awards have come and gone, and while certain winners were as expected, there were a few surprises. The show itself was a lot of fun, Jimmy Kimmel did a fine job of hosting in his second year on the stage, at one point taking a group of A-list stars across the street to an unsuspecting movie screening audience just to thank them for loving movies. Major names like Gal Gadot, Mark Hamill, Armie Hammer, Margot Robbie, Emily Blunt, Lupita N’Yongo and even director Guillermo del Toro handed out candy and hot dogs to shocked audience members, effectively interacting the Oscars telecast with the real moviegoing world. The evening was all about the empowerment of women and inclusion, gender and race, and you could feel the energy and passion. THE SHAPE OF WATER took home several key awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Production Design and more. DUNKIRK won big in the technical categories, and Roger Deakins finally won his long overdue Oscar for cinematography in BLADE RUNNER 2049. THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI took home Best Actress for Frances McDormand, and Best Supporting Actor for Sam Rockwell (his first Oscar). You can see a full list of the nominees and winners below, and see how our original predictions held up as well. Our happiest moments? Watching Gary Oldman finally get his well-deserved Best Actor Oscar, and Guillermo del Toro winning Best Director… did you watch? What moments blew you away? Tell us in the comments below.

I always note, for what it’s worth, the picks defined below (from when we originally posted the nominees) of what we thought will win were not necessarily what we thought should win, rather what we expected would win…
