We’ve seen movies like this before, a person goes through a mystical change and suddenly sees themselves or other people in a whole new way, which of course leads them to a catharsis by the end of the story… WHAT WOMEN WANT and SHALLOW HAL come to mind. But I FEEL PRETTY still feels a bit bold, thanks most likely to Amy Schumer’s fearless-looking performance as an ordinary woman who (thanks to a bump on the head) suddenly sees herself as a very beautiful presence, and walks around with a new-found confidence and outlook, which of course leads to some hilarious results. Written and directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, it also stars Michelle Williams, Rory Scovel, Emily Ratajkowski, Aidy Bryant, Busy Philipps, Tom Hopper with Naomi Campbell and Lauren Hutton. I’m not sure this trailer is doing the best job of representing this comedy, which seems to be an issue with Schumer’s work – as I recall, the trailers for TRAINWRECK didn’t look that great either, but the film was a blast. Still, there’s potential here, as the concept does feel rather topical and appropriate for today’s society, learning to embrace who you are and what you look like. This also comes from STX Entertaiment, and they’ve been putting out a lot of great features lately, especially for a studio that’s still relatively new. Take a look below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In I FEEL PRETTY an ordinary woman who struggles with feelings of insecurity and inadequacy on a daily basis wakes from a fall believing she is suddenly the most beautiful and capable woman on the planet. With this newfound confidence she is empowered to live her life fearlessly and flawlessly, but what will happen when she realizes her appearance never changed?
