CHAPPAQUIDDICK trailer & poster – Jason Clarke plays Ted Kennedy in his darkest hours

If you’re not familiar with the infamous 1969 Chappaquiddick story, let’s just say it’s not a pretty side of the Kennedy legacy. Senator Ted Kennedy, in his younger days, left the scene of a tragic accident in which Mary Jo Kopechne died by drowning… but what’s worse is Kennedy waited 10 hours before reporting what happened. This led to a flurry of conspiracy theories, accusations of intentional murder, etc. – it was definitely a dark moment in history, and it followed Ted Kennedy for his entire life (he passed away in 2009). The new movie CHAPPAQUIDDICK, directed by John Curran (THE PAINTED VEIL), recounts the event and what followed it. It stars the always-excellent Jason Clarke as Ted Kennedy, Kate Mara plays Mary Jo Kopechne, and the great Bruce Dern stars as Joe Kennedy. The supporting cast includes Ed Helms, Clancy Brown, Andria Blackman, Olivia Thirlby and Jim Gaffigan. Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Nearly five decades ago, on July 18, 1969, a car went off the Dike Bridge on the island of Chappaquiddick. The driver, Ted Kennedy escaped. His 28-year-old passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, did not. An upcoming movie, Chappaquiddick, attempts to tell the story of what happened that night and why it took Kennedy some ten hours to report the accident to the local Edgartown police.

CHAPPAQUIDDICK opens April 6, 2018
