NOWHERE BOY trailer – Aaron Johnson plays John Lennon

If you liked Aaron Johnson in KICK-ASS, you’ll soon see the more British side of the young actor in NOWHERE BOY, in which he plays a young John Lennon.  The film has already premiered in the UK at the London Film Festival, and screened at the Sundance Film Festival a few months back.  Looks pretty good, and could be a chance to prove just how good Johnson can be.  I personally though he was great in KICK-ASS, and have been looking forward to seeing more with him.  Incidentally, not that it should matter, but this is the film where Aaron met director Sam Taylor Wood, and fell in love – something that has caused a great deal of controversy, as she’s 23 years his senior.  But judging by the video of them together on the red carpet, it looks like their love for another is pretty genuine, so more power to ’em.

The official synopsis is as follows: Imagine John Lennon’s childhood. Liverpool 1955: a smart and troubled fifteen year—old is hungry for experience. In a family full of secrets, two incredible women clash over John: Mimi, the buttoned—up Aunt who raised him, and Julia, the prodigal mother. Yearning for a normal family, John escapes into the new and exciting world of rock n’ roll where his fledgling genius finds a kindred spirit in the teenage Paul McCartney. Just as John begins his new life, tragedy strikes. But a resilient young man finds his voice — and an icon explodes into the world.

NOWHERE BOY opens October 8, 2010
