One of the films you’ll want to keep an eye on during awards season is director Pablo Larraín‘s JACKIE, which stars Natalie Portman as First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy dealing with the days following the death of her husband, President John F. Kennedy. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews from attending press. We’ve seen so many movies about The Kennedy Assassination, but it should be interesting to watch from the perspective of his wife. Being born and raised in Dallas, I can’t help but be fascinated by that horrific event, which to this day is still debated and argued. As you’ll see in the trailer, this also look beautiful and haunting in terms of the cinematography. The supporting cast includes Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup, and John Hurt. Take a look at the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
JACKIE is a searing and intimate portrait of one of the most important and tragic moments in American history, seen through the eyes of the iconic First Lady, then Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (Natalie Portman). JACKIE places us in her world during the days immediately following her husband’s assassination. Known for her extraordinary dignity and poise, here we see a psychological portrait of the First Lady as she struggles to maintain her husband’s legacy and the world of “Camelot” that they created and loved so well.
Hoping for a sensitive portrait of this tragedy in her life vs an indictment of Dallas or conspiracy theory take on events…
