OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL trailer & poster – this sequel/prequel goes back to the beginning

When OUIJA came out in 2014, it didn’t seem to make a big impression on audiences, but it did do well enough to warrant a sequel ($100 million worldwide gross on a meager $5 million budget). But it seems like lately we’re starting to see a surge in period piece horror films. THE CONJURING movies have had big success with that aspect. So the sequel to OUIJA has become a prequel set in the 60s, going back to the beginning of the evil boards origins. In this story, Elizabeth Reaser (THE TWILIGHT SAGA) portrays a phony psychic medium with two daughters (Annalise Basso and Lulu Wilson). When she gets them a Ouija board, they unwittingly wake up an evil presence. Mike Flanagan (OCULUS) directs this outing, which also features Henry Thomas, Kate Siegel, Doug Jones and Lin Shaye. It was never just a game. Inviting audiences again into the lore of the spirit board, Ouija: Origin of Evil tells a terrifying new tale as the follow-up to 2014’s sleeper hit that opened at number one. In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their séance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.
