Bryan Cranston won a Tony Award for playing President Lyndon B. Johnson on stage in the hit play “All The Way”, and HBO felt it was strong enough to film it for the masses. Now everyone can get a new taste of that performance when ALL THE WAY premieres in May on the popular cable channel. When John F. Kennedy was tragically shot in 1964, LBJ took the job as President of the United States rather unexpectedly, and the story here chronicles that experience. In the newest trailer below, you get a lot of info in a short period of time. Cranston got an Oscar nomination for his work in TRUMBO last year, as this may be yet another Emmy nom for the talented actor. It’s also noteworthy that Jay Roach, who directed TRUMBO, is reuniting with Cranston for ALL THE WAY as well. The supporting cast is nothing to sneeze at either, including Anthony Mackie (as Martin Luther King), Melissa Leo (as Lady Bird Johnson), Bradley Whitford (as Hubert Humphrey), Stephen Root (as J. Edgar Hoover), Frank Langella (as Senator Richard Russell) and more. Tell us what you think of the new trailer in the comments below.
Bryan Cranston (Trumbo, “Breaking Bad”) reprises his Tony-winning role in All The Way, a riveting behind-the-scenes look at President Lyndon B. Johnson’s tumultuous first year in office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Staking his presidency on what would be an historic, unprecedented Civil Rights Act, Johnson finds himself caught between the moral imperative of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the expectations of the southern Democratic Party leaders who brought Johnson to power.
