THE BOY trailer – THE WALKING DEAD’s Lauren Cohan deals with a supernatural child

I’ve actually wondered why no one has utilized THE WALKING DEAD star Lauren Cohan on the big screen yet, as she’s easily a fan-favorite on the show, and many don’t even realize she’s masking her British accent. In the new film THE BOY, directed by William Brent Bell, she takes the lead in a supernatural tale in which she has to babysit a doll… but not any normal doll. I gotta say, this looks pretty unnerving, and the new company releasing this (STX Entertainment) already has a solid entry under their belt with Joel Edgerton’s THE GIFT. Maybe psychological horror movies will end up being their winning formula. The cast for THE BOY also includes Rupert Evans, Jim Norton, Diana Hardcastle, Ben Robson, and James Russell. Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Greta is a young American woman who takes a job as a nanny in a remote English village, only to discover that the family’s 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents care for just like a real boy, as a way to cope with the death of their actual son 20 years prior. After violating a list of strict rules, a series of disturbing and inexplicable events bring Greta’s worst nightmare to life, leading her to believe that the doll is actually alive.

THE BOY opens January 22, 2016
