When major movie studios show clips or trailers at San Diego Comic-Con, their intention (sometimes) is for that to be a unique experience for those who attend the Hall H presentations. Sadly, it’s almost impossible to prevent everyone from trying to (against the well-stated rules) record said footage, and post a low quality version on the internet. When Warner Bros. and director David Ayer showed the first look trailer for SUICIDE SQUAD, it didn’t take long before a crappy version someone filmed from the audience popped up online – notice we don’t post those. As a result, WB decided to go ahead and post what was supposed to be an “exclusive to Hall H” trailer online, which you can now see below. While some may argue they should post it anyway, folks don’t always understand just how hard it is to get into these SDCC presentations. Some fans camp out for days just to have a seat. You can see the statement from WB below on the matter, and in this particular instance I have to say I feel bad for them a bit. That said, SUICIDE SQUAD looks rather awesome, so in the end they still win.
The film stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach, Jay Hernandez, and Karen Fukahara.
“Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.”
