Alice Eve may be the female lead in THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA

If you missed seeing SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE, you may not have been properly exposed to the beauty that is Alice Eve.  In that film, the 28-year-old actress plays a perfect “10” who falls for a “5” played by Jay Baruchel.  I had the pleasure of interviewing her and her co-star Krysten Ritter, which you can watch HERE.  Since THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA has been moving forward, there’s been a lot of rumors as to who would play various roles.  At one point Emily Blunt (who already worked with director Joe Johnston on THE WOLFMAN) was supposedly in the running to play the female lead – Peggy Carter – though she apparently passed on it.  Keira Knightly was also a potential Peggy.  Alice Eve was rumored to be another choice, and now it seems she may indeed be stepping into that part.  EOnline is reporting that Eve is Marvel’s current top choice to play Peggy Carter.  In the comic books, Carter was Cap’s girlfriend in World War II, and was an American agent serving with the French Resistance.  Peggy has military and spy training, and knows how to handle a firearm.   In more recent years she ended up in LarkMoore Clinic, a nursing home, and potentially has Alzheimer’s.  You can imagine the drama of Captain America having a love interest in World War II, being frozen in ice since then, and trying to reconnect with and older version of that same woman, though now she can’t remember him.  If played right, this could be beautifully tragic.  I like Alice Eve, and thought she was especially charming in SHE’S OUT OF MY LEAGUE.  I think she certainly has potential to nail this role.  What do you think?  Are you a hardcore comic fan?  Did you have your own ideas for who should be Peggy?  Let us know in the comments below.
