THE TRANSPORTER movies helped solidify Jason Statham as a fan-favorite action hero, even as they got more ridiculously silly in their action scenes. But the movies made big money, and as Statham is getting a little long in the tooth, it’s only natural that Hollywood bring in some new blood to continue the series. THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED puts Ed Skrein (GAME OF THRONES) in the lead, playing the same character “Frank Martin”, though this is being called a reboot and not a sequel. The plot is pretty much the same too, with Martin being a freelance driver who gets things from here to there without asking questions, and is more than capable of dealing with whatever opposition may come up. Loan Chabanol (FADING GIGOLO) plays the employer named Anna, Ray Stevenson (INSURGENT) plays Martin’s kidnapped father, and the rest of the cast includes Gabriella Wright, Radivoje Bukvic, Anatole Taubman, and Tatiana Pajkovic. This new film is directed by Camille Delamarre (BRICK MANSIONS) and produced by Luc Besson. At first glance the trailer looks like more of the same, but I’m not sure if Skrein can match the charisma Statham had, or the convincing fighting style… I guess time will tell. The producers of Lucy and the Taken trilogy bring you the next adrenaline-fueled installment of The Transporter series, THE TRANSPORTER REFUELED, starring newcomer Ed Skrein as Frank Martin, the most highly-skilled transporter money can buy. The stakes are greater and technology better, but the same three simple rules apply: never change the deal, no names and never open the package.
Looks interesting, I’ll give it a shot!
