Arnold Schwarzenegger hasn’t been wasting any time since leaving the Governor office of California, cranking out movies and staying busy working. One of the more unusual projects he’s worked on is MAGGIE, in which he plays the father to a girl (Abigail Breslin) who becomes infected with a zombie virus. As the virus slowly consumes her, he must keep her protected from those who would have her destroyed. The film also stars Joely Richardson and Laura Cayouette, and is directed by Henry Hobson – Hobson makes his directorial debut here, but had overseen title sequences for many films and TV shows, including THE WALKING DEAD. Lionsgate picked up MAGGIE just before it was to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the studio feels it’s going to perform strong in theaters. It will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, and then have a limited release in May. Check out the trailer and see what you think.

There’s a deadly zombie epidemic threatening humanity, but Wade (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a small-town farmer and family man, refuses to accept defeat even when his daughter Maggie (Abigail Breslin) becomes infected. As Maggie’s condition worsens and the authorities seek to eradicate those with the virus, Wade is pushed to the limits in an effort to protect her. Joely Richardson co-stars in this post-apocalyptic thriller.

MAGGIE opens in limited release on May 8, 2015
