INSIDIOUS became a hit in 2010, reviving the ghost story genre and showing theater audiences you could make a really creepy film and keep it PG-13. It came from the genius creative team of James Wan and Leigh Whannell, who also gave us SAW. The sequel was popular enough to spawn a third entry, although this new installment takes things back to the beginning in terms of the story. Lin Shaye is back as Elise, and we’ll see the origins of her experience with “The Further” realm. This is also the directorial debut for writer Leigh Whannell, who has also starred in all three movies. The cast includes Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Lin Shaye, and Angus Sampson. Take a look at the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. This chilling prequel, set before the haunting of the Lambert family, reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl (Stefanie Scott) who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity.

INSIDIOUS CHAPTER 3 hits theaters June 5, 2015
