As if the lovely Morena Baccarin’s pop culture street cred wasn’t solid enough, between starring in FIREFLY, STARGATE SG-1, V, HOMELAND and now GOTHAM, not to mention voicing Black Canary on the JUSTICE LEAGUE animated series and Dr. Wells’ computer “Gideon” on THE FLASH. Now she’s about to add another very cool role to her already impressive credits. THR broke the news that Baccarin has been cast in the upcoming DEADPOOL movie, based on the wildly popular Marvel Comics character (created by Rob Liefeld) and starring Ryan Reynolds in the lead role. Morena will play a love interest for the hero(?), who is left scarred and indestructible after a procedure meant to cure his cancer goes wrong.

Tim Miller will direct, and the cast already includes Gina Carano (playing an underground-dwelling mutant named Angel Dust), T.J Miller (playing the voice in Deadpool’s head) and Ed Skrein (rumored to be the baddie). The film is said to be shooting in March, and scheduled for release on February 12, 2016. are already attached to the project, which is eyeing a March shoot and is slated for an early 2016 release. Baccarin beat out other contenders for her role, including ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK star Taylor Schilling. We’re pretty excited about this news, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
