SNL40: All the best moments from SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE’s 40th Anniversary Special

snl40-header

Last night Saturday Night Live dominated the airwaves with a 40th Anniversary Special, which lasted three and a half hours. This SNL40 presentation featured a lot of original cast members, some of them who haven’t been seen in years, and even some brilliantly funny re-imagining of fan-favorite skits… and a few lackluster bits mixed in. We’ll spare you the seemingly never-ending Californians skit. For hardcore fans of the show, seeing Dan Aykroyd re-do his Bass-O-Matic commercial was greatness, or watching Paul McCartney and Paul Simon sing classic songs warmed your heart. It was mostly fun, but just in case you missed any of the lengthy special, we’ve got some of the best bits for you to watch below. We start with the cold open featuring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake.

Easily one of the best segments of the night, here’s Celebrity Jeopardy, featuring Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek, Darryl Hammond as Sean Connery, Kate McKinnon as Justin Bieber, Alec Baldwin as Tony Bennett, and Norm MacDonald as Burt Reynolds:

Here’s a new Digital Short featuring Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg, spotlighting all the times when people would break up during a skit:

This is a segment with Martin Short and Maya Rudolph (as Beyonce) introducing several of the memorable musical skits being done by the original cast members, like Will Ferrell, Ana Gasteyer, Dana Carvey, Bill Murray, Steve Martin and more:

Here’s Jerry Seinfeld doing a fun Q&A with the audience, including participation of Michael Douglas, Larry David, Sarah Palin, James Franco, John Goodman, Dakota Johnson and more:

And finally, here’s the Wayne’s World skit featuring Mike Myers as Wayne and Dana Carvey as Garth:
