Based on the DC Comics/Vertigo series of the same name by Chris Roberson and Michael Allred, iZOMBIE is the newest comic book TV show adaptation hitting this March. VERONICA MARS mastermind Rob Thomas wrote and directed the pilot, which follows a girl named Liv (her name was Gwen in the comic) who is actually a zombie, and works in a morgue (in the comic she was a gravedigger)… oh, and she has the ability to see people’s lives after they die by eating their brains. And what better way to make use of that talent than to help solve crimes! So it’s kind of like VERONICA MARS but with a rather morbid twist. The movie WARM BODIES featured a similar story, though it was more like a TWILIGHT film than a detective tale. What I appreciated most from the trailer below is that McIver actually looks like a Mike Allred drawing, so they at least tried to capture the appearance the comic had, which is admirable. It will be interesting to see how audiences take to it, especially since the most recent Vertigo comic book adaptation to hit television hasn’t done as well as hoped… I’m referring to the criminally under-watched CONSTANTINE on NBC. It’s safe to say iZOMBIE is going for a different audience though, and putting it on Tuesday nights (CW’s night for THE FLASH and ARROW) should help. The cast also includes Rahul Kohli, David Anders, Molly Hagan and Malcolm Goodwin. Take a look at the trailer below, followed by our 1-minute interview with star Rose McIver from last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. We almost missed out on talking to her, as she had to rush to the panel, but huge thanks to the fine folks at Warner Bros. television for allowing us to be her last interview before she left.

And here’s our minute-long interview with star Rose McIver from last year’s San Diego Comic-Con:

From Rob Thomas and DC Comics, iZOMBIE premieres on The CW Tuesday night March 17, 2015
